| XLI SYMOPIS will be held at Divcibare Hotel, Divcibare. Divčibare is a mountain field, which lies at an altitude of 980m and covers an area of Crni Vrh, Paljbe, Golubac up to Veliko brdo. It is located in the central part of Maljen, 38 km southeast of Valjevo city. High surrounding of Divcibare, protect it from the winds. Divcibare offeres a wonderful view not only of the parts of the mass Maljen and its surroundings, but also of some remote parts of Serbia. It is known that Prince Miloš often stayed in this area, gathering with shepherds. Divčibare is, thanks to its location and climate conditions, declared as unique health resort in Europe. Petnica Science Center, close to Divčibare, is independent nonprofit organization for science culture development, education and culture. Majority of programs are designed for secondary-school students although there are a lot of programs for primary-school pupils, university students and science teachers. The programs of Petnica include a wide range of fields and disciplines within the natural, social and engineering sciences. The city of Valjevo is positioned at less than 100km southwest of Belgrade, at the foothill of the mountains Medvednik, Povlen and Maljen. The town is situated in a valley with the flow of the river Kolubara. Valjevo is ranked among the oldest urban settlements in Serbia. Throughout the history of the Serbian people, Valjevo often played a prominent role in the national liberation movement, but, in addition to national leaders, a considerable number of important writers, artists and scientists originated from Valjevo. |
